The Bob Connolly Collection!

Posted by Prescotian on January 19, 2012

Bob Connolly [1973] salvaged some memorabilia from the waste bin during his sixth form, including:

* Three Prescotians(1933,1934,1937)
* One booklet – Opening of New Buildings 26/7/24.
* Two single sheet Distribution of Prizes, 1942 and 1943.

There was a clearout of old stuff going on so Bob rescued those items which interested him. Two of the Prescotians [1933 and 1934] contain reference to one pupil, C.M.Middlehurst’s PGS achievements!

Mike Roberts, a peer of Bob has kindly sent in the treasure trove for scanning and these will be published in the next few days.

Christmas Pubnoshers

Posted by Prescotian on December 24, 2011

Gordon A E Williams writes , ” I attended the Christmas Luncheon at the Huyton & Prescot Golf Club of The Old Prescotians Luncheon Club. I think there were 45 of the 69 listed members present. The youngest members are from the entry year of 1948 (I think). Most are from much earlier years, prewar in many cases. Veryfew from my year, 1947 – Keith Tattersall and I seem often the only ones present “.

Sad News prior to Christmas

Posted by Prescotian on December 23, 2011

I have just received this message from Stephen Webster,

“Bad news unfortunately. My father, Frank Webster, who was head of Physics at that time,passed away peacefully on Wed 21st Dec 2011 at 2.20 pm in Blackpool Victoria Hospital aged 83.

A long and faithful servant to PGS,whose devotion to his lads, as he called them, the school and education was immeasurable. He will be sadly missed by his family and anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him”.

I will be setting up a condolence/appreciation page. I f you wish to leave a comment, please use the contact page on the website.
